A third chance at adventure

 Hello world!

Once again, it is me, px, here to revive our dead blog after 4 long years. From the time between then and now, I think my list of games would have changed quite a bit. Let's review from the previous times!

In 2015, I said

Currently, on mobile, I am playing Million Arthur and Age of Ishtaria, on PC, DotA 2 and FEZ, on 3DS, I have Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pokemon Y and Omega Ruby, etc (and more). Maybe in a future post, I will share my progress and thoughts on them. Also, I have to save up to buy games, so I tend to play free-to-play games unless I really want a particular game (thinking of trying Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate since it has really good reviews and are recommended by friends)

In 2017, I said

I have already moved on from most/all of those games. I guess it's not a surprise. Right now, I do have a bunch of games I play on and off (some I pretty much just claim log-in bonuses only (and very, very occasionally play)) These include Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage, Love Live! School Idol Festival. Some games that I play more regularly would be Otogi: Secret Spirit Agents, Granblue Fantasy and Shadowverse. In the past two years, I've also played some really amazing games, like Stardew Valley and World's Dawn.

Reading these, I realised that I do still play some of these (it's an on/off cycle), but mostly those in 2017, such as Starlight Stage, Granblue Fantasy, Shadowverse, and Stardew Valley. Perhaps, it is because these games receive regular updates that bring me back to them again and again.

Undertale - First impressions

I regret to start with: I have no screenshots for this post. For some reason, my steam screenshot key didn't work.

So I've played about 40 minutes of Undertale, and I have to say I am a little disappointed. Hmm, that is to say, not as much in terms of story since I've barely started with the introduction. My opinion is largely formed from the gameplay, and it's kinda putting me off from playing any further.

There may not be any more 100% original ideas...

...but it doesn't mean that ideas are no longer good. In fact, repeated ideas often mean that they are successful - hence repeated. It could also mean that the old ideas have a new twist!

So there's this quote here said by Mark Twain.
“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.”
So using non-original ideas are not necessarily bad or cliche. In particular, I'm going to talk about two games I've briefly tried recently - "Jawns" and "Tricky Towers".

All the filters you could ever want

Recently, I've discovered a completely free photo editing software, Google's Nik Collection. It was actually available for free since March 24, 2016, but I guess I'm just a year late to the party. In this post, I am just going to show some of the edits I did while experimenting with the software.

All photos are top: before, bottom: after.

A second chance at adventure

Hello world!

I am px and a contributor of this site although I haven't contributed at all recently. In fact, no one else has contributed since my last post, but maybe we will be more active in taking about our latest games. This is a quote from my very first post:

A little update

(Before you read on, I apologize for the lack of photos in this post. Also, spoiler alert.)

Hmm so I haven't been posting much lately and by that, I mean, not at all. I guess I'm not someone who can stick to updating something regularly, and it shows in how I play my games too. For that, I really mean that I'm the kind of person who would keep my Neopet healthy and bloated for a few days, then not visit for 3 years before repeating the cycle. Which is why my town (Animal Crossing) is still undeveloped...

Okay well, the main reason why I haven't been posting is because I haven't had much to post about. (Ishtaria isn't very exciting, not getting units you want is very demoralizing and puts you off. TsumTsum is cute but repetitive, not much to post there, except that I'm trying to collect all the Tsums I can. Same goes for LINE Play. Not much comments on Alphabear but ugh it's so hard to get past Chapter 4. Dota is same-old, not much besides the reborn update which is still in beta and I didn't fully explore it yet cuz it's really buggy for me.)

After all that long-winded paragraph on games I have little content to talk about, you must be wondering what content I have for this post.

Groudon lands at last!

A waaaaay overdue update from me about Pokemon Shuffle since Rayquaza and Daily Pokemon events have already ended. But mainly, they've added a Groudon event, to which I'm super happy about since I now have all 3 Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza :D

Squares, devil squares and cubes

One of, or perhaps the game with the cutest graphics ever that I've played must have been FEZ. I came across this game when I was looking to complete a challenge on Steam (add games to your wishlist) and without much thought, I added this game as the graphics were so adorable! A few months later, a good friend of mine bought this game as a birthday present for me along with Strata (another random puzzle game with really nice graphics and pretty good music). Well I felt bad since it was added to my wishlist on an impulse, but nevertheless I decided I would play it anyway since it was given to me in good will.

To be honest, although I am not as hooked/addicted as I am to some other games, I did enjoy what I've played of it and would recommend it. I have yet to complete the game though, so I may not be the best at talking about it. Still, I will share about my journey in FEZ. This post will just be a short introduction to the beginning of the game though.

Pokemon matching and catching!

Recently, besides my regular playing of DotA 2 and Ayakashi: Ghost Guild (which the latter has stopped all events and new content is about to close down on 30th April, hence I will cease activities on it too). As a large amount of my game time had been on AGG, I had to look for other games to take up my time instead and thus I started playing Million Arthur and Age of Ishtaria (stories perhaps for another time).

Coincidentally, Pokemon Shuffle was newly released in February 2015. However, I neglected my 3DS for a loooong time, and turned it on at about late March to find out that there was a new free-to-download game!

DotA 2 Heroic Effigy Creation Tool

Ahh, so I think I discovered the Heroic Effigy Creation Tool a little late. Most TI4 compendium owners probably have created their Effigy by now.

Upon receiving the blocks of triumph as a gift for purchasing the TI4 Compendium on time, my friend had instantly created his to be a statue of Spiritbreaker, but I didn't want to create my statue so fast as I just couldn't decide what I want hero I want it to be. Thus I left the blocks untouched in my inventory, until recently when I looked at my items and realised I still haven't created an Effigy.

An adventure

Hello world!

I am px and a contributor of this site... I was dragged into this by Littlebyte when I suggested that she could make a games blog to write about the endless list of games that she wants to play. Well, to be honest, it does seem fun to talk about what I am doing in these virtual worlds. However, I am not very good at games, though I love playing them, so I'll just be writing about my opinions and game adventures (less review-ish and I'll try to give tips but they'd probably be common sense and common tips that can be found in other parts of the net).
